Early Days Introductory Workshops

If you are unable to attend a face-to-face Introductory workshop for any reason, you may be interested in this series of telephone workshops.

The full day Early Days Introductory workshop has been divided into three 2-hour telephone workshops.  Telephone workshops are run in small groups of four to five participants and are facilitated by professional staff.  You can choose to complete one or more of these workshops in any order you choose.

1.    Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder

This telephone workshop focuses on the key characteristics of ASD, the causes of ASD and the impact that it can have on child development. The workshop also explores the strengths and skills that children with ASD have and how parents can use these strengths to support their child’s development at home.

2.    Learning about Early Intervention

This telephone workshop provides an overview of early intervention for children with ASD and provides parents with information about how to access early intervention services for their child. It also gives some tips and strategies for how parents can get the most out of early intervention programs and services.

3.    Choosing therapies and interventions

There are many therapies available for Autism Spectrum Disorder and these vary widely in their safety, cost and effectiveness. This telephone workshop provides parents with the information and skills they need for assessing the safety and suitability of ASD therapies and equips parents to make decisions about which therapies and interventions may be of benefit to their child. Parents will also be given tips on how to find reliable information about therapies and interventions available for children with ASD.
