About Early Days

What is Early Days?

Early Days provides free workshops for mothers, fathers and other family carers of children aged six years and under who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Early Days is part of the Australian Government’s Helping Children with Autism package. The Early Days initiative is being developed by a collaboration of organisations nationally recognised for their expertise in Autism and parenting, coordinated by the Parenting Research Centre.

How can Early Days help me and my child?

Early Days workshops provide up-to-date information about Autism as well as parenting tools you can use to promote the development of your child. You also get the opportunity to meet other parents and share ideas and experiences.

  • Learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder and what it means for your child and your family
  • Learn practical strategies that can make a difference to your child's development
  • Learn how to choose between therapies and get the most out of services

What are the workshops?

Workshops are information and discussion sessions of small groups that help you apply practical ideas and strategies to your own situation. They will be available in all States and Territories of Australia and will help you learn practical, hands on strategies for dealing with issues such as sleeping, behaviour, play, language and more. By mid 2009, you will also have the option to access our programs online. Read more about workshops.

Who developed the workshops?

Our workshop programs are designed by the Early Days Collaboration or partner organisations, and have been subjected to a stringent quality assurance process to ensure they accurately provide contemporary knowledge in parenting a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Who runs the workshops?

All workshops are delivered by Early Days Providers. These are selected organisations that provide early childhood intervention services to children with developmental delays or disabilities, including Autism. The workshops are facilitated by early childhood development professionals who are experienced in working with families.
